A message from the Senior Pastor

A message from the Senior Pastor

Marc's Update

As I wrote last week, I spent the week in Adelaide at the National Senior Pastors’ Gathering. Over eighty leaders from the Baptist movement across Australia with representatives from state leadership, supporting organisations (e.g., Baptist World Aid, Baptist Insurance, Christian Finance), and senior leaders from many of the larger Baptist churches.
The first session on Tuesday afternoon opened with a table discussion. The question posed was, “What is Jesus doing in the church?” I was on a table with church leaders from Adelaide, Melbourne, and Perth and after we had shared what we were seeing in our churches we heard from all the churches. Table after table reported that Jesus is doing something in our nation! The common features of this “something” include more and more people showing up at church exploring faith - often with little prior connection to the church - and this curiosity has not been driven by anything the church is doing (though, many of them run Alpha)!). There were also reports about an increasing engagement with young adults and a deepening hunger for the Bible. It was so encouraging to hear these testimonies of a national movement of God and a reminder that Jesus will build his church!
While there are still challenges that the church faces as we hold out the word of life (Phil 2:16) the shifting environment buoys the spirit! Let us join together in prayer that Jesus would continue to move in our world and that we, his people, would courageously say “Yes” to his invitation to participate with him!
See you Sunday!

Leaning on God When Life Is Hard

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." — Proverbs 3:5

None of us welcomes adversity, yet tough seasons come to us all. Illness, loss, disappointment, and uncertainty can quickly remind us how limited our own strength can be.

In those moments, God invites us to trust Him. That is often easier said than done. We naturally want answers, solutions, and a clear path forward. Yet faith calls us to place our confidence not in our understanding, but in God's character and care.

One of the great comforts of the Christian life is knowing that we never face our struggles alone. The Lord walks with us through every trial, providing strength when we are weary, peace when we are anxious, and hope when the future seems unclear.

As a church family, may we encourage one another to keep looking to Christ. Often it is in our greatest challenges that we discover most clearly the depth of God's faithfulness and the sufficiency of His grace.

Prayer: Lord, help us trust You when life is difficult. Strengthen our faith, remind us of Your presence, and teach us to rely on You each day. Amen.
