Mid-Year Meeting and an opportunity to check out the new renovations this Sunday!...

Marc's Update

This Sunday is our annual mid-year meeting (11:30-1:00, onsite and online) as well as an open house for the completed renovations. As you are hopefully aware, we have been renovating the upstairs and downstairs offices in order to move our creche and preschool ministries downstairs. The rooms that have housed these important ministries are upstairs (not great from an emergency evacuation perspective!) and are a little tired (though the team has done a great job to make them engaging for the kids!). The renovated spaces downstairs are both safer and better suited for these ministries and we’re excited to begin moving everything in over the school holidays, ready for Term 3.

The two rooms where creche and preschool have been housed are now freed up to become mid-size meeting rooms which will be incredibly valuable. In fact, we have already used the preschool room to host Alpha this last term (And a big thanks to the kid's ministry team for making that work!). With nearly thirty participants it was the perfect space to host in and provided a vision for the future.

Finally, all of the ministry offices will now be in one location - upstairs. The new space is fantastic and we are all looking forward to fully moving in over the next couple of weeks.

So, do have a sticky beak of the new creche and preschool space (entry on the far side of the coffee machine) on Sunday morning after the service, join us to hear ministry reports from the first part of the year, and then have a look at the upstairs offices before you go!

Hope to see you Sunday!

In Matthew10 Jesus called and instructed his disciples on how they should serve Him. He explained the meaning of discipleship and warned His followers to expect the same treatment He was going to suffer. He knew the cross was before Him. He knew He would suffer and die for the sake of the world. He knew He would be resurrected. He knew He would lead the way into Heaven. He knew there were disciples who would suffer and die for their faith just as He was going to suffer and die.

The stoning of Stephen recorded in Act 7 is the biblical account of the first Christian martyr. Since then there have been thousands of believers who were martyred. Stephen was not an apostle but a devout disciple who performed many miracles. He was falsely accused of blasphemy against the Law of Moses. He was condemned by the Sanhedrin and dragged outside the city walls to be executed by stoning.

Before being killed, Stephen looked into heaven, saw the glory of God, and declared he saw Jesus standing at the right hand of God.

While Stephen was being stoned to death he prayed for Jesus to receive his spirit. He also prayed God to forgive his persecutors.

What a challenge this is.

Am I willing to give my life for Jesus?

Am I able to forgive those who persecute me?

New Opportunities to Serve

New Opportunities to Serve

If you are a person who desires to be on-purpose and others-focussed and prefers a behind the scene role, then I want to chat to you!  We have two opportunities for serving that are ‘behind the scenes’ but will make a HUGE impact for others.

Do you love seeing a welcoming space ready for people to meet with Jesus? Do you love seeing people engage in worship on a Sunday? We need help preparing the auditorium space to be welcoming and ready on a Sunday for both our morning and evening services.  We are looking for about 10 able bodied team members who could help set up and move chairs on a Sunday. We would love to have a team who could commit to arriving on Sunday morning by 8:30am to set up for the morning service, and a team who would be willing to set up for the evening service either after the morning service around 11:15am or before the evening service at 4:00pm. If you are interested in joining this team or finding out more information, then complete the Volunteer Expression of Interest or chat to Marjy, GBC Serve Team Leader.

Do you love seeing people come together and build community? After our PM Service, we share a meal together. We have an amazing team of cooks who prepare a simple meal each Sunday evening. To assist that team of cooks, we are looking for someone who would have the capacity to shop for the ingredients for those meals and have those ingredients in the GBC kitchen by 2:00pm each Sunday. All purchases are reimbursed by GBC and a shopping list is provided. If you are interested in finding out more about this role then then complete the Volunteer Expression of Interest or chat to Marjy, GBC Serve Team Leader.
