A message from the Senior PastorMarc's Update This week I attended the National Senior Pastors’ Gathering hosted by Clovie (Clovercrest) Baptist Church in Adelaide. This annual gathering of senior leaders from larger Baptist churches across Australia is one of the most significant events I attend. Being with like-minded people who experience the same joys and challenges of leading larger churches is refreshing and inspiring. Over the years of attending the gathering I have developed several important friendships with colleagues in ministry. I am thankful for the opportunity to attend again this year - thanks to the GBC staff for making this possible. The gathering runs from Tuesday to Thursday but this year I have been invited to preach at Clovie on Sunday morning and so I have extended my stay in Adelaide until then. I’ll be back in the office on Monday! Marc Rader | Senior Pastor For more infomation visit: https://www.gymeabaptist.org.au/partnerships/pages/may-mission-month

Elder Editorial
Matthew 8: 23-27 The above passage is the event where Jesus gets into a boat and His disciples follow. There is an enormous storm and his disciples fear for their lives. In the meantime Jesus is asleep, but, they eventually wake Him, He calms the storm and rebukes them for their little faith. I have always found this story hard to believe. These men were mostly fisherman who were used to violent storms, until……about 18 months ago I experienced a storm like never before. My roof was destroyed, three trees were uprooted, a heavy table was swept into cars, and all this happened in less than 2 minutes. It was at that I understood that this story is believable. Following Jesus does not mean smooth sailing. The disciples stepped into a boat with Jesus and still found themselves in the middle of a violent tempest. The storms of life are impartial and unpredictable. We cannot avoid difficulties, but need to remember that Jesus steps into the boat of our lives alongside us. Barb Higgins | Elder |
