Marc's Update

In the same way, the gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world – just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and trust understood God’s grace.” (Colossians 1:6)

This could very well be the theme verse for our Kingdomtide sermon series. Kindgomtide is the name sometimes given to this period of the church calendar – from Pentecost (in late May) to Advent (December). It is a time when the church has traditionally focused on growth, maturity, and fruitfulness as followers of Jesus. Also known as Ordinary Time, it is the longest “season” in the year; coming after the focus on Jesus birth, death, resurrection, ascension, and sending of the Spirit. For the three weeks of these school holidays we are following the lectionary readings (set readings, in a three-year cycle, that takes the church through much of Scripture) and reflecting on our growth as followers of Jesus.

This coming Sunday I’m going to be reflecting on two key texts: Psalm 82 and, to a lesser extent, Luke 10:25-37 (the Good Samaritan). I’m looking forward to unpacking one of the most important themes in our discipleship – love of neighbour and justice – through the lens of one of the most curious psalms (Have a read and you’ll see what I mean) and one of the most well-known parables. And I am looking forward to what the Holy Spirit may do in our lives as we reflect on following Jesus!

See you Sunday!

A word of encouragement from our elders

A former Prime Minister famously said that life wasn’t meant to be easy, and our own experiences attest to the saying’s truth. We should probably expect life with our fellow believers to be easier than in the outside world. Yet, we sometimes find ourselves in difficult relationships, even within the church. How can we better relate to each other?
In Matthew 18:20 we find Jesus saying to the disciples, “… for where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” This verse is often quoted in prayer settings, but in context, it broadly assures us of Christ’s presence, whether making hard decisions or straightening out our relationships. It encourages us to seek help from our brothers and sisters in Christ, and emphasises that Jesus is present, even in small groups, gathering in his name.
If you are not already part of a LifeGroup, why not join one now? It is a great place to build and nurture our relationships.

Auditorium Restoration Update

The restoration works for the main auditorium have started. This is in response to the flooding event in April 2024.  (Please note: This is not part of the proposed renovations.) On Sunday, you will see that part of the SE wall (wall adjacent Ampol side) has had part of the giprock removed and is covered in plastic.  The contractors have done this so we can still use the space for Sunday services. Parents, please ensure that children are within the red chairs and not on the floor in the space between the wall and chairs.  We want to ensure we do not disturb that covering on the wall.  Thank you for  your help to ensure we keep our spaces safe for everyone.
