Last week we launched our theme for 2021, “Go… make disciples” and this week we begin our first “discipleship” series, “Seven Letters, Seven Lessons” in which we will be listening to the discipleship lessons contained in the seven letters to the seven churches in Revelation 2-3. These letters were written to the historical churches in the Roman province of Asia Minor (modern Turkey) but which are representative of the church wherever (and whenever) it is found. We are also launching our first discipleship menu to go with this series. This is a simple selection of activities that we can do together. Like a menu in a restaurant, you don’t need to do everything on it but pick and choose what’s helpful. I’d love for all of us to try something on this menu – not to replace what you might normally do, but as a complement to it – so we can begin following Jesus together in this simple way.You can access this menu on our website under the “Next Steps” tab and then “Growing”. There is the menu for this week’s sermon as well as some simple guidelines if you are unfamiliar with some of the concepts.I am looking forward to what God will do in our midst as we are a bit more on-purpose about following Jesus together!
