Elder EditorialYou are the salt of the earth Matthew 5:13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavour, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.” In Jesus’ day, salt was a costly and precious commodity. Roman soldiers were sometimes paid with salt, giving rise to the phrase “worth his salt.” Salt was used to preserve meats and fish and added flavour to food. However, salt was able to lose its flavour and was good for nothing and thrown out. As we examine our lives let us ask ourselves: Are we the salt of the earth as Jesus commissioned us? Are we salty and add flavour and purity to life? Are we a precious commodity? Let us pray we will not be good for nothing. Barbara Higgins | Elder |

Family News
An update from the Davidsons "Dear GBC family, Hello from the Bush Capital! It’s been a smooth start to our posting, so thank you for your prayers and genuine care! The kids are settling in well to their new school, and the pace of life here is much slower - with time to exercise, spend time as a family and be home more often. On arrival we had planned to “church hop” for a few weeks to find the right fit for us as a family, but the first church we attended was so welcoming that we decided to stay. It is the local Anglican Church to us - Gungahlin Anglican Church (Forde campus). Thank you all especially for your recent prayers for Adelaide - the pediatricians were all scratching their heads to explain what happened, but she’s back to her normal, cute self now. It’s not the first time GBC has quickly and wholeheartedly responded in fierce and committed prayer for us, and like before, we were blown away by your love and genuine care. We watch the news from GBC on socials from afar, and are praying for you also. Yours in Christ, Justin, Naomi, Will, Eleanor & Adelaide" If you have something for Family News, contact office@gymeabaptist.org.au or call on 9521 4611. |
