A Message from the Senior Pastor

This week I will be preaching on Nehemiah 2:1-10 as part of our “Renovation” sermon series. In this passage Nehemiah, after four months of prayer, approaches the king with a massive request. When the king acquiesces (spoiler alert) it become evident that Nehemiah has not only prayed for four months, but has been making plans.

For me this raised the matter of how God’s work interacts with our effort. We may have been invited to join in his work, but it is his work! We know that we are to act responsibly and with diligence, but we are also aware that we are not called to attempt things in our own strength. Nehemiah’s example is a good one for us to reflect on as we seek to unpick this knot! I look forward to sharing with you from God’s word on Sunday (either online, onsite, or on the podcast).

We have also sent out The Long Read that I promised last week. It outlines three “Renovation” projects that we are engaged in over the course of 2022. It is long (twelve pages) but I would love for you to read it so that you are aware of what we are doing and  inspired to be part of it!

See you Sunday.
