This Sunday marks what I might call the start of the ministry year here at GBC. Many of the ministries that run during the school terms will launch for another year and, with most people back from holidays, committees and meetings pick up again. This year feels a bit different for me.

I feel the nervous anticipation of an upcoming challenge; like waiting for the whistle to blow, the puck to drop, and the game to begin. I feel this way because of the upcoming challenge of our strategic direction; the five-year plan that we spent last year discerning. I was delighted and a bit daunted by what we determined God is inviting us to work at in the next few years.

2023 marks the start of putting those plans in motion, assessing where we are, where we are going, and determining how we are going to get there. There is going to be a lot of work to do and it’s going to feel like a slow burn at times, but I am anxious to start.

This first term we are about to set out; to make a start and set a sustainable pace for the race to come. I am excited about the opportunity and am ready for the whistle to sound!

I hope you feel the same way about what God is inviting you to do this year as part of our shared vision to see lives changed by Jesus.

Let’s go!
