We are about to enter the second stage of our discernment process as a community of faith. The desired outcome is – from an organisational perspective – a five year strategic plan and – from a theological one – a clear sense of where the Lord is inviting us to participate with his renewing work in our world. In term 1 we’ve been encouraging our community of faith to be praying generally for the Lord’s leading and guiding.

At our AGM last Sunday we set apart a discernment group and from this Sunday we will be asking our community of faith to prayerfully submit their impressions of where God may be leading us to this group. The opportunity to submit these impressions will be open for April and May, leaving June for the discernment group to discern themes within the submissions before reporting to our mid-year meeting in early July. They are not deciding what we will do, but are seeking the themes and areas where God may be leading us. We will then pray through those themes in the lead up to our focus day on September 17.

The impressions can be anything we feel the Holy Spirit may be laying on our heart or mind. This might be an idea for ministry or outreach, an area of need to explore, a Scripture that the Holy Spirit places on your heart or mind, a word or phrase that keeps coming to mind, a word-picture/vision of what the Lord may be wishing to do in our community of faith, etc. I am looking forward to how God leads us in this next stage and hope you are too!

NOTE: Impressions can be submitted digitally (through a Survey Monkey link) or by pen and paper (we will have a submission box available on site).
