This Sunday is commonly known as Palm Sunday and marks the beginning of Holy Week when we remember the death and resurrection of Jesus.

It is a familiar story for us and, as with all familiar stories, it can be difficult to open our hearts to “hear” it again. This is complicated by our busyness.

When we are rushing from thing to thing to thing, stopping to focus on any one thing is nearly impossible. And I don’t know about you, but I know I have been rushing from thing to thing to thing all year!

As we approach Easter again this year, can I urge you – and by extension myself – to slow down, take a deep breath, and open our hearts to hear again, as if for the first time, the greatest story of all time.

This requires us to be On-Purpose – one of our values – to intentionally create margin in our lives to hear from God. When we are rushed we cannot be present and without being present few things will penetrate our hearts.

As God’s people, let us allow the Holy Spirit to break through our state of hurry and confront us again with the deep love of Jesus and his tremendous victory in which we live our lives!
