Marc's Update

Over the last year or so, as a staff team, we have been asking where we are seeing fruit in our community of faith. It’s a pretty simple question, but one that we have found quite difficult to answer. We know the kind of fruit we’re looking for: significant steps of faith, meaningful commitment (or recommitment) to follow Jesus, noticeable transformation and the like. The difficulty (if that’s the right word) is that these things tend to be slow to show and we may not be in a position to see it when it happens. However, we’ve been consistently asking the question on Monday mornings when we meet. One thing we have been trying to pay attention to is that which is worth celebrating. Those things that have caught our eye as something that suggests Jesus is at work (even if it’s not strictly speaking full-on fruit!). We rarely go a week without something to celebrate. It’s been a good conversation to have as it helps us focus on what we want to see - lives changed by Jesus! As we come once again to our Sunday services; a chance to encourage one another and be encouraged - pay attention to where you are seeing things worth celebrating in your life and in those with whom you interact. For this is what we’re on about as a community of faith.

Elder Editorial

Elder Editorial

How comforting it is to know that the One who leads me through each day will never abandon me. He has a plan for my life and reveals it bit by bit.  Psalm 73:23-24 says “You hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward You will take me into glory.” When I’m afraid or don’t know what is going to happen, I picture Jesus holding my right hand and I have peace and courage.
This connection with our awesome God is amazing and worth telling others about. As we walk with God through each day, we not only experience His love but also His guidance, through the presence of the Holy Spirit. We have help in how to pray, decisions we make and confidence in speaking to others about our personal, loving God. Let’s not be afraid to ask for help, then listen and follow. We have access to the whole Trinity - God the Father, the Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit!

We pray for and celebrate Michael Foster, son of Kathy and Warrick who has moved to Lake Macquarie to pursue Primary Teaching at Uni.  Michael served as part of our kids ministry, prayer and Bible reading team for many years and was a valued part of both our am & pm services. Michael is enjoying the lovely church community he has found and friendships with other university students. We wish him all the best in his studies & will miss him at GBC.

Have something to celebrate, share, or pray about? Whether it's a graduation, engagement, wedding, new baby, new job, house move, health concern, or praise point, we'd love to hear from you. Contact the church office at office@gymeabaptist.org.au or 9521 4611 so we can share in these moments as a church family.

Revitalising Our Gardens

Revitalising Our Gardens

Our Maintenance Team is made up of wonderful volunteers who are passionate about creating warm, welcoming spaces for everyone at GBC. This includes caring for our outdoor areas and gardens, which help make our church grounds inviting and enjoyable for our congregation and visitors.

Recently, Sutherland Shire Council distributed free native seedling vouchers, and the team would love to use these to refresh and revitalise the gardens around our main car park. Native plants are a great way to add colour and life to our grounds while creating a welcoming environment that we can all enjoy.

If you have received a voucher but don’t plan to use it, we would love to put it to good use! Simply drop your unused voucher into the GBC mailbox outside.

Thank you for helping us grow and care for our GBC gardens!
