Nehemiah 2:11-20

This week we continue our theme for 2022 - Renovation: Rebuilding for Purpose and our study of Nehemiah. In this week's sermon, preached by Matt Willis, Nehemiah surveys the broken down walls of Jerusalem for himself. In doing so he gets a first hand view of exactly what he and the people of Judea are up against. There is an important principle for us as we engage in our own work of renovation.

Sometimes, the first work of spiritual renovation is to take a good hard look at ourselves; to see where the walls have been broken down and the gates burnt. This requires a vulnerability that we are often unwilling to face; and yet, without a recognition of where we find ourselves there will be little ability to engage in change. Let us ask God for the courage to review our hearts and minds; as individuals and as a community of faith.
