Mark 8:27-38

Today we continue our short little series entitled On This Rock, Personal Reflections on Foundational Texts. This title is taken from Matthew Chapter 7, where Jesus says that anyone who hears his words and listens to them is like a wise person who built their house on a rock. This week, newly appointed Associate Pastor Roxanne Lawler reflects on the significance of Jesus’s words in Mark Chapter 8.

What does it profit someone to gain the whole world but to lose their soul? This question is more than simply a question that led an 8-year-old Roxanne Lawler to accept Jesus as her Lord and Saviour but continues to be a significant grid to help her and us. Make decisions about how we follow Jesus in our day to day lives.

Do you have one or two people in your life who can help you check your blind spots? These people are a gift to us to faithfully follow Jesus. Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

Don't forget that you can find our discipleship menu for this series on our website under the Next Steps tab and growing, join us as we seek to follow Jesus together.

Is there someone you know who really needs to hear this message? Why not share it with them and see what God does through it.
