Message from the Senior PastorMarc's Update This weekend two dozen young people plus leaders will be heading to the lower Blue Mountains for camp. This brief getaway is a wonderful opportunity for friendships to develop and a chance for young people to encounter God in worship, teaching, and conversations. There theme - “Anchored in Christ” - is one that would be appropriate for any age but is particularly significant for our youth as they begin learning how to navigate this world. Let me encourage you to pray for them this weekend. Pray for safety, for deepening friendships, for strength and energy, for freedom from distractions, for an encounter with Jesus, and anything else the Spirit may place on your heart. Elder Editorial
Living Life Backwards Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing (2 Timothy 4:8). Our new series, preaching Romans backwards, has got me thinking. In 2 Timothy 4:7–8, Paul writes as someone standing at the finish line: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” He views his life from the perspective of “that Day,” when the Lord will award the crown of righteousness. In that sense, Paul was living life backwards. This is not pessimism or withdrawal. It is allowing the certainty of Christ’s return to shape today’s priorities. When we live with the end in view, reputation matters less than faithfulness, comfort less than perseverance, and immediate success less than steady obedience. To live life backwards is to ask, “What will matter when I stand before the Lord?” That question reshapes our attitudes and behaviour. It steadies our speech, tempers our reactions, and strengthens our commitment to serve without applause. We forgive more readily and love more generously because we know our labour in the Lord is not in vain. I pray that, as a church family, we will take the promise of tomorrow and bring it into every aspect of our day-to-day lives. Derek Mullins | Elder |
GBC Building Works Update 4 27/02/2026
This past week progress has been focussed in the upstairs office area. More walls have been erected and windows installed. The 1st floor grid ceiling frame has also been installed. The scaffolding in the atrium remains as they continue to finish the wall on now office 06. Next week will be a loud and dusty week. The concrete stairs within the renovation space will be removed and the trench will be dug in preparation for the plumbing for the new kids area. From Monday 2 March - Thursday 5 March, staff will be working from home and the GBC office and building will be closed. Groups that meet during business hours at GBC have been notified and have made alternative plans. Groups that meet outside business hours may still access the space and return any drop sheets if moved. We request that everyone stay out of the work area, remain patient of any noise or dust during the working period and be excited for the finished outcome at the start of June 2026.
