Marc's Update

Earlier this week I sent a church-wide email to our community of faith encouraging each of us to consider our financial commitment to the mission of God here. I would like to reiterate the two asks. To those who are able:
     1. To increase their regular giving our Ministry Budget by 5%. This is based on the 5% increase year-on-year that was approved by the membership at our AGM in November.
     2. To review the details of any regular giving (e.g., making sure credit cards are still valid or that periodic payments haven’t lapsed).
Your financial partnership in the cause of the gospel is a continual source of encouragement for me and I am deeply grateful for your faithfulness. The Ministry Budget is the engine room for the many ministries we engage in and enables so much of what we do as we continually look for evidence of lives being change by Jesus.
Thanks to all who continue to financially resource ministry here. I am looking forward to what God will do through our gifts in the year to come!

Elder Editorial

Elder Editorial

I love the book of Philippians in the New Testament. Written by Paul the Apostle, it contains so many key ideas for how we should live as Christians. I have so many verses in it underlined and I am frequently reminded by them in the choices I make and in the promises I hang on to.
I was recently struck by the number of opposites we have to choose between: starting with Christ, who came from Heaven to Earth to give us a Heavenly perspective on life. “Though being in very nature God…made Himself nothing, taking the nature of a servant”. How often do we seek to elevate ourselves, rather than serve others?
Forget what's behind, strain for what’s ahead.
Don’t grumble or complain, instead rejoice! Why? ‘Cos God’s got this, trust Him.
Don’t worry about anything, instead PRAY!
Don’t just ask God for things, be thankful.
And as we put our difficult situations into God’s hands, He gives us PEACE.
And if you find it hard to live according to God’s ways (eg. Love one another) there’s a promise that God works in us to will and to act according to His good purpose.
We can’t do it on our own. Good News - we’re not meant to.
Praise God for the gift of a Helper - His Holy Spirit.

Creating Safe Spaces Training This Sunday

Creating Safe Spaces Training This Sunday

GBC is committed to being a safe church. Creating Safe Spaces training is facilitated by the Baptist Association and provides training to equip volunteers and ministry leaders to work with vulnerable people including children and youth.  This training ensures that we continue to stay others-focused and trustworthy.

All are welcome to participate.  Ministry roles that include leadership roles and/or working with children or youth are required to complete this training.  The training includes two parts - Online Module and Face-to-Face Module.  The online module is to be completed prior to the Face-to-Face Module.

GBC will be hosting a Face-to-Face module training on 22 February 2026 from 12:30 - 3:30 PM.

Cost is $15 for the online module and $25 for the face-to-face module.  Please contact Marjy Robertson if you need assistance in registering.

GBC Building Renovations Update Week 3

GBC Building Works Update 3 20/02/2026

This past week has had the completion of the grinding of the first floor in preparation for leveling, windows and the main office doors have been installed, a/c units delivered, and lots of cable running.  You may see scaffolding in the atrium as the new wall was erected where the balcony once was.

Next week the contractors are looking to complete and sand the partitions on the first floor followed by the fit out of the doors and skirtings.

We request that everyone stay out of the work area, remain patient of any noise or dust during the working period and be excited for the finished outcome at the start of June 2026.
