From the Senior PastorMarc's Update This Sunday, October 19, we will be having baptisms in both our morning and evening service. This is aligned with National Baptism Week (an initiative of Crossover Australia; itself a Baptist initiative) in which Baptist Churches across Australia have invited people to take the step of baptism. Over the course of two Sundays hundreds of people will be baptised in hundreds of church communities as a testimony to what Jesus has done in their lives. Baptisms are always exciting, but it’s extra special to think we are joining with so many others across the country this Sunday! Baptism is an important demonstration of a commitment to follow Jesus. It reminds us that we have been cleansed of the stain of sin by Jesus. It re-enacts our sharing in Christ’s death to our old self and our resurrection to our new life in him. It is a declaration of readiness to participate in the ongoing mission of Jesus. It is a public declaration of our belief in Jesus and our commitment to him and his purposes. It is an act of obedience and of faith. All of which provides us with reason to celebrate when someone decides to take this step. I hope you can join us – online or onsite – to celebrate with those who are being baptised! Marc Rader | Senior Pastor |

Elder Editorial
Paul's story in the Bible describes the radical transformation of Saul, a Jewish Pharisee who persecuted Christians, into the Apostle Paul, a fervent missionary for Jesus Christ, especially called to preach to the Gentiles. After a blinding encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus, he began preaching the "good news" of Jesus' resurrection and establishing churches across the Roman Empire. He wrote numerous letters to churches he had established. His great dream was to visit the believers in Rome and it was whilst he was in Corinth he wrote a letter to the church in Rome. Romans 1:8-10 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being reported all over the world. God, whom I serve in my spirit in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you in my prayers at all times; and I pray that now at last by God’s will the way may be opened for me to come to you. How often is my/your faith known across the world? How constantly do I/you remember those I don’t know in prayer? Barbara Higgins, Elder |
