Manna
Manna is a ministry of Gymea Baptist Church and commenced in September 2004.
Goals:
- to support families in need in the Sutherland Shire
Goals achieved by:
- Providing 3 meals per week, for four consecutive weeks
- We assist two families per month with meals
In addition we:
- provide non-perishable groceries to families in need
- (donated by attendees of Gymea Baptist Church)
- provide fresh fruit and vegetables and other goods such as nappies to families in need (using financial donations, mostly from attendees of Gymea Baptist Church)
Who we help:
- families who may be suffering due to:
o financial difficulty
o ill health
o post-natal depression
o multiple births
o domestic violence
Most of our referrals come from local agency’s, including Sutherland Early Support Service. Through these referrals we are able to help families who are in genuine need.
How we do this:
- we have over 30 volunteers
- each volunteer cooks and delivers 1 meal every 5 weeks
- groceries are packed and delivered on a monthly basis to families in need (generally 5 families each month are helped)
