Karl Faase - Senior Pastor

Karl has been the senior pastor of Gymea Baptist Church since 1996. As well as his role at Gymea he is also Executive Director of Arrow Leadership Australia and Director of the `Jesus - All About Life’ Media Campaign. Karl is host of the television program `Face to Face’  shown nationally and across Asia and the U.K.  Karl’s radio spots are heard around Australia on Christian radio stations. Karl is married to Jane and has three children ...Timothy, Ainsley & Ellie.



 

  
Marc Rader - Senior Associate Pastor

M
arc’s role includes overseeing several staff, small group ministry, discipleship & our services as well as running (ACE) Advanced Christian Education. ACE is a ministry of Gymea Baptist Church which seeks to deepen the knowledge of those who participate.  Marc is a part-time faculty member at Morling College (Baptist Theological College of NSW). 




 

Angelo Giovas - Senior Pastor of Pastoral Care

Angelo is married to Anne and has three children.  He has been in Pastoral Ministry for the past 30 years and his greatest passion is his love for God, being exressed in caring for people and helping them grow in their relationship with God and becoming more like Jesus.  Angelo oversees the "Small Group" ministry as well as the "Welcoming and Integration" of new people in the church.  He also oversees the "Pastoral Care" ministry in which the whole church plays a part.

His dream is to see people becoming ... Loving ... Disciples of Jesus.




 

   
Steve Dixon - Youth Ministry and Young Adults Ministry Coordinator


Steve came to Gymea in 2003 and oversees our ministry to high schoolers and young adults.  His passion is in developing Jesus-focused relationships within the youth and young adult communities.  He facilitates leadership teams in organising small groups, camps, events and our evening service.  His wider ministry includes preaching and teaching and is currently studying a Master of Divinity part time. Steve is married to Renee and has a daughter Sage. 




  
Kim Gifford - Children’s Ministry Co-ordinator

Kim is our Children’s Ministry Coordinator.  She oversees the Sunday morning children’s program, Primary school Scripture and outreach events such as Kid’s Activity Day and Big Saturday Night.  She began attending GBC in 2002 and has been in this role since October 2005.  Kim is a trained Primary teacher, is married to Andrew and has three daughters - Annika, Mikaela and Bailey.



Leanne Carter - Children’s Ministry Co-ordinator (preschool)

Leanne is married with two children and her family has been coming to GBC since 2002. She is a trained Primary teacher and is enjoying using her experiences in part-time ministry. Leanne oversees Creche and Preschool School on Sunday mornings and Playgroup during the week.  She organises special events throughout the year for children under 5 years and works with the GBC team to plan family services and other children’s ministry initiatives.

Beth Barrett - Senior Pastor’s Assistant

Beth has attended Gymea Baptist Church for the past 25 years. She commenced as a volunteer in office administration one day per week in 1998 and then became a staff member in 2001. Beth has been Karl Faase’s assistant for the past 5 years. She is passionate about serving God and others in and through the work of our church.
 



Kay Clark - Administration Manager



Ainsley Faase- Administration Assistant
Ainsley has been on staff since July 2007 as a Part-time Administration Assistant, particularly doing the behind the scenes admin for our Sunday Services.  She loves her work here at Gymea and also enjoys the ministry work she does with the Preschool Sunday School and other children’s programs.  Ainsley is also studying full time at Morling Theological College, doing a Bachelor of Ministry.

 
Theny Johnston - Book Keeping

Theny is the Bookkeeper for Gymea Baptist Church, SCW and Arrow Leadership Australia. She is a qualified accountant with over ten years experience in business services and income tax and has also worked in management accounting and accounts payable. Theny migrated from Bali Indonesia when she was 6 years old. She is married to Brett and they have a son Samuel. Theny is also a member of the GBC Finance Team.



Janet Elmes - ACE Administration

After attending ACE classes for a number of years as a student, Janet now works part-time looking after the administration side of the ACE program. She is passionate about the role ACE plays in helping people mature and go deeper in their faith.  When not working at Gymea, Janet works as the Administration Manager for an environmental consultancy in Sutherland.



Jeanene Ecob - SCW Family Service Manager

Jeanene’s vision is for families to become safe, connected and healthy environments for individuals to prosper in.  Jeanene joined SCW in 1996 and has completed more than 2000 hours of individual counselling specialising in relationships, adolescence, trauma, grief and personality disorders and primarily Disassociative Identity Disorder.  She also lectures in counselling theory, dispute resolution and marriage enrichment.  Jeanene has been married for 17 years and has three children 12, 9 and 6 years old.




Jenny Beckmann - Finances

When she is not bike riding, bush walking, reading or busy being mum, Jenny is our finances assistant. She is in the office two days a week helping Theny (GBC bookkeeper). Jenny’s role is mainly centered around the practical day-to-day side of the church’s finances. Jenny is a long-time member of Gymea Baptist Church, having attended for around 18 years.
