Gymea Baptist Church

Five Year Plan

Numerical
  1. An increasing congregation that will build a weekly Sunday attendance of over 1000 adults and children by 2009.
  2. A committed membership of 500 adults by 2009.
Mission
  1. A staff that includes someone who is focused on evangelism so that we grow through winning people to Christ, not just through transfers from other churches.
  2. We build an active evangelism team to work with our staff member in growing the evangelistic "temperature" of the church.
  3. We regularly run outreach AM and PM services, supported by evangelistic training and faith discovery courses with the result that many people are coming  to Christ each year.
  4. Develop specifically targeted off-site evangelistic ministries aimed at those who would never attend our church or worship services.
  5. SCW would continue to grow and develop ministries which respond to the needs of people across the community.
  6. Continue to develop the ties between our church and SCW so that it remains a ministry our church is committed to and an integral part of our future ministries.
  7. That we would continue to encourage people into ministry both locally and internationally. That our church would be a place where people find faith in Jesus and look to express that faith in full time ministry as they are called.
  8. We recognise that our church and it’s resources exist for the Kingdom and not just ourselves which means that we will encourage ministry that impacts our nation and beyond with the gospel.
  9. Support the missionaries attached to our church and continue to build our missionary giving so that by 2009 our missionary appeal will be $80,000.
  10. Grow mission teams so that youth, young adults and adult attenders of our church have an opportunity to experience overseas or interstate ministry each year.
  11. That our Carols by Candlelight continues to grow so that it has an attendance of 6,000 (in good weather).
  12. Develop a Track Program for new Christians. Build a plan which caters for the various steps people can take along the path from inquirer to active and committed Christian.
Ministry
  1. An integrated youth and young adult’s ministry which will see an overall attendance of over 300 (12-25 year olds) on a weekly basis.
  2. To develop strategies which encourage more young people to be involved in worship and built into the community of the church.
  3. A children’s ministry that continues to touch the schools of the area, has regular outreach events for all ages, integrates children and their families into the church and sees over 300 children involved on a weekly basis.
  4. Restructure the look and feel of our Sunday children’s program to make it more attractive and effective.
  5. Build the music and worship ministry of the church so that the church’s music ministry team is integrated across the church for children, youth and adults and that we have a team of 150 in our music and worship ministry.
  6. Build teams to oversee the creative and production side of worship services and outreach events.
Operational
1.   A new site and building which will:-
    • allow us to continue to grow numerically for the foreseeable future
    • allow flexibility in future development
    • have space for all our present ministries
    • be accessible
    • have community visibility
    • allow a single morning service
  1. Build the operational, organisational and administrative functions within our church so that the leadership and staff are fully supported in ministry.
  2. Develop a "Style Guide" for our visual identity.
