May Mission Month 2018
MMM 2018 TARGET: $189,000
Donations close: 10th June 2018
At Gymea Baptist Church (GBC), our mission is that everywhere we go and in everything we do, we will invite everyone to follow Jesus that they might be transformed.
As part of our expression of loving our local and global neighbours, every year we raise funds through May Mission Month (MMM) to support a range of projects that seek to make a difference in the lives of those in need. Historically, as a church and denomination we have valued supporting mission that facilitates life transformation and we continue that legacy today.
Sound Advice Mongolia – by FEBC Australia
Target: $45,000 (Tax Deductible)
FEBC is a global media ministry sharing the gospel by broadcasting in 50+ countries, in 130 languages for 2500+ hours daily. 9 million listeners annually report how their lives have been changed by FEBC radio, internet programs and on the ground ministry/relief.
FEBC/Wind FM has been voted the best radio station in Mongolia for 3 years and has capacity to reach 3 million people. Mongolia has significant social issues of alcoholism, domestic violence, child abuse, suicide and family breakdown. This project will enable the broadcast of focused programs which deal with these issues, enable transformation, provide solar/wind-up radios to people without the means to connect and make known the message of Jesus.

Sustained Life Changes – by Daughters of Cambodia
Target: $43,000 (Tax Deductible)
Daughters of Cambodia empowers those trapped in the sex-trafficking industry to walk free and start a new life, with healing, dignity and the means to prosper. At Daughters they learn how to sustain a new lifestyle in a non-institutional setting – a model which has seen unparalleled success, empowering over 700 clients in the first 10 years.
This project enables sustained life change for 100 women through counselling, medical services, life skills workshops, discipleship classes, creative programs and free day care for children. We supported this project in 2017 and due to the complex challenges of recovery and the past success of the project, we continue to stand with them.

Waves of Hope – by Christian Surfers

We have two parts to this project from Christian Surfers which will provide opportunity for local communities to know and follow Jesus. CS Australia is rebuilding their outreach on the South Coast of NSW, covering 6 major communities between Wollongong and Eden. This project will connect and sustain local surf missionaries as well as engage them in the process of identifying a Regional Coordinator.
CS International is partnering with Hope House Mauritius where they share the gospel with, and train at-risk youth who live amidst slums with high unemployment. This project expands their carpentry workshop which employs, equips and empowers local boys.
Syrian Assist, Lebanon – By Baptist World Aid
Target $43,000 (Tax Deductible)
The Syrian civil war has caused one of the most significant humanitarian crises in our world today with over 13 million people requiring assistance. Lebanon has the most refugees per capita in the world with 1.5 million Syrians living within their tiny country. As the government struggles to meet the needs of these Syrian refugees, the Lebanese Church has extended love and support to their former enemies.
Due to the ongoing severity of this crisis, we are supporting the project for a 3rd year. The project in Hay el Garbeh will develop further to provide schooling, vocational training, sustainable farming skills and psychological support to 500 Syrian refugees.
